Proposed Digital Constant On-Time Control
Digital power supplies are becoming more and more popular in the power electronics field. Power supplies with digital control can overcome many drawbacks of those with analog control and provide more functions easily to improve the whole system performance, such as passive components reduction, noise immunity, reprogrammability, communication and so on. Conventional voltage-mode digital control structure is widely used but very high resolution digital pulse modulator (DWPM) is necessary to avoid limit cycle oscillations, which greatly increases the cost of digital controller. One concept is proposed to control the limit cycle oscillations. With this concept, a digital constant on-time control structure is proposed to eliminate the requirement for the high resolution DPWM. Thus, significant cost reduction can be achieved by proposed structure.
