Anti-Microbial Properties of Amino Acid Complexes of the Later Transition Metals

Description:

Antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria are more frequently reported and present an immediate and severe danger to many people. New manners of fighting these infections are being sought, with several particularly promising compounds being developed at Virginia Tech. The creation of transition metal complexes with effective anti-microbial properties and the properties of these compounds to further develop more complexes have been demonstrated. These compounds provide improved methods of treating resistant bacteria, which will decrease the mortality rate of those infected.
