Perforate Plate Assembly for Stator Laminations
Case ID:
12-051
Web Published:

The use of dimples to enhance heat transfer is well known from the heat transfer literature. This invention attempts to apply it to a generator stator. The stator duct is a passage in the lamination through which the coolant flows. The stator core is made up of a series of magnetic laminations stacked together. The features can be optimized for maximum heat transfer and least pressure drop increase. Dimples can be optionally placed on the opposite thinner lamination. Another embodiment is to create a passage with thicker lamination with dimples on both sides.
