Adaptive SR Driving Scheme for Resonant Converter

In this invention, adaptive SR driving for resonant converter using ripple counter concept is proposed. With the proposed method, SR drain to source voltage Vds is sensed to detect the body diode conduction and SR is well tuned to eliminate the body diode conduction within all operation regions of resonant converter in different applications. Tow control schemes based on the proposed concept are claimed: one is suitable for conventional resonant converter, which tunes the SR on-time every switching cycle; another one is generalized scheme and suitable for high frequency resonant converter, which tunes the SR on-time every nth switching cycle (n = 1, 2, 3 ...). Both of the claimed control schemes are very simple, require only low­ cost controllers and occupy very little controller resources.
