Methods to Protect the LTE Systems Against Control Channel Spoofing

This technology allows legal LTE systems to operate in LTE control channel spoofing environments, where similar control signals are encountered along with the legal LTE signals. The channels affected are the Primary and Secondary Synchronization Signals (PSS, SSS) and the Broadcast channel (BCH). These channels can be easily decoded and reproduced by anyone to spoof the system. This threat is omnipresent as it does not require any major engineering skills or expenses. Our technology allows to detect non-legal LTE cells (spoofer) and initiate suitable actions or simply ignore them and operate as usual.  Our methodology is intended to bridge the gap between openness and proprietary/protected standards to leverage innovation while ensuring protection and maximizing effective system operation.
