Targeted Cellular Ablation Based on the Morphology of Malignant Cells

The method presented herein can be utilized for the treatment of benign and malignant neoplasms. The mechanism of action is a purely physical treatment option that provides targeting killing options based on enlarged cellular nuclei, a reliable characteristic of malignant neoplasms. By tuning the parameters of a pulsed electric field treatment in silica and testing in vitro a treatment protocol can be developed enhancing preferential killing of malignant cells while sparing healthy brain cells. With the proposed method it is also possible to provide an estimate electric potential disruption to the nuclear membrane needed for cell death by electric fields, an important parameter for informing treatment planning.
