Augumented Indoors Localization System

This invention disclosure proposes a new augmented system for indoor localization utilizing smart building infrastructure. The system consists of an indoor smart sensor network capable of monitoring motion trajectories of anonymous wireless users inside a building, and an external system capable of tracking a queried user's motion trajectory but at low accuracy. Implementing smart trajectories similarity measures over small time intervals, the proposed augmented system will be able to identify the trajectory that is closest to the queried user motion trajectory from the set of trajectories tracked by the building, and hence correctly identify the user location with much higher accuracy up to the room level. This level of localization accuracy is a requirement in several emerging applications (indoor navigation guidance) as well as the new enhanced 911 (E911) regulations for location identification of wireless 911 callers up to the room levels.
