Small Molecule and Polymeric Hydrogen-Sulfide Donors with Benign Byproducts for Therapeutic Use

Description:

This invention describes the controlled decomposition of a class of compounds to afford hydrogen sulfide, which may be beneficial in treating a wide variety of diseases. The small molecule and polymer release H2S in a sustained manner, and no harmful byproducts are released. The H2S donor may be attached to drugs, peptides, nanoparticles, polymers, or other materials to increase its efficacy or localize its release.
