The StreamVane device covered by utility patent application 14795545 (VTIP-2014-137US) is an original device for the generation of desired pressure and swirl profiles in a flow. In recent work, we have found that the addition of a wire screen device to a StreamVane produces an increased degree of flexibility for the generation of desired flow profiles. We have tested a combined wire screen-StreamVane device in a jet engine at Virginia Tech, and confirmed that increased flexibility occurs. Specifically, we wish to patent the combination of a wire screen and a StreamVane for generation of desired profiles, which we regard as an original discovery. The new device will be called a ScreenVane.
