A Start-up Circuit and Control for Isolated Boost DC/DC Converters
Case ID:
99.020
Web Published:
8/6/2012
This invention is to overcome the start-up surge current problem of isolated boost converters. In boost converters, the output voltage must be higher than the input voltage. However, the initial output voltage normally starts from zero, and a surge current will occur that can easily damage the entire converter. The invention functions like a flyback converter so that the surge current will not occur. After the output voltage is established, the converter will change its control function and return to boost converter operation.
